Libeň Bridge (Libeňský most)

Liben Bridge

The Libeňský (Libeň) Bridge is a concrete bridge connecting Holešovice with Libeň District.

The bridge was built in the period of the First Republic between 1924 and 1928. Originally it was called Masaryk Bridge (until 1939) and T.G.Masaryk was present at the opening.

It is 400m llong and 21m wide. It is used by both cars and pedestrians and trams as well. It was designed by Pavel Janák and František Mencl in a functional style. The bridge is unusually robust and there is no decocaration on it.

The bridge is said to have been damaged during the floods in 2002 and reconstruction was planned for 2007 but nothing has happened yet.
